Job CONDITIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University or 4 years of relevant experience in Business, Project Management, Information Technology or related field
  • 8 years of experience working in a team setting to deliver projects
  • 8 years of Program/Project Management experience including managing highly complex programs/projects with cross functional teams
  • 8 years of experience with program/project management methodologies and tools and executing program/project plans
  • 8 years of experience effectively executing concurrent projects of varying size, cost, technologies, complexity and risk

Position Summary

Position Alternative Location: Southeast Michigan

The Manager Business Program Mgmt is responsible for delivery of business driven, large scale programs designed to drive results specified in the business strategy. They provide program management methodologies/processes, tools and metrics to improve project execution across the bank.

This role will be a thought partner to the line of business leaders, project manage organization level initiatives, drive coordination and consolidation across the portfolio of projects, and contribute to strategic initiatives across the bank.

As a critical part of the team, a successful Business Program Manager will be organized, strong in project management, able to shift seamlessly between driving larger organization priorities and smaller daily tasks and have excellent communication skills.

Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and providing a single point of contact for those projects. Provides technical and analytical guidance to project team. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.

Position Responsibilities


Program Execution:

  • Provide expert leadership and oversight to highly complex, visible business driven projects and bring to successful completion (on time, on budget and delivering expected business benefits).
  • Provide awareness on the connection points for the delivery and execution of interdependent projects/programs.
  • Manage conflicting projects, programs, priorities, and teams and recommend appropriate sequencing/mitigation plan(s).
  • Act as liaison between all lines of business, interdependent projects/programs as well as external partners and business partners.
  • Manage complex relationships with executive leadership, establish relationships of trust with management and colleagues, and drive consensus across the organization on difficult topics.
  • Interact with executive leadership on a regular basis providing program status communication(s), financial updates, and program/project sponsor mentoring of their roles/responsibilities.

Resource Planning and Development

  • Staffs projects through initial resource planning and ongoing accurate labor forecasting. Ensures the right teams are engaged at the right time for the right work over the life of the project.
  • Coordinates contingent labor procurement/selection as required for assigned projects.
  • Mentor program/project managers and provide a role model for individual development
    Identify areas of development in program/project managers, communicate performance improvements, and coach towards improvement.
  • Mentor and encourage skill development of program/project managers
    Provide performance review feedback and development recommendations for program/project managers to their managers.

Risk Management:

  • Ensures adherence to all government, corporate and department standards, policies and procedures in all artifacts, tasks and decisions across the portfolio.
  • Works to ensure all artifacts adhere to all standards, policies and procedures.
  • Proactively manages project risks and risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure Second Line of Defense involvement in deliverable development and testing.

Program Management Standards:

  • Develop program/project management standards, templates, and assets.
  • Develop program/project assessment procedures for evaluation and improvement.
  • Uphold organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Identify program/project management best practices.
  • Ensure program/project standards and processes are followed.
