Superintendent of Schools
The Board of Education of the Oriskany Central School District invites interested, highly-qualified educators to submit applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The search process will be conducted over the next several months. The successful candidate should be available to assume the position on or about September 2023.
This is a fully confidential search for all applicants, from receipt of application through appointment to the superintendence. The Board is being assisted in the selection by Patricia N.
Kilburn, Ed.D., District Superintendent of the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, who will work with the Board to screen applicants and make recommendations regarding candidates. The Board will make all decisions concerning the selection process, the evaluation of candidates and
the final appointment. Salary will be $145,000-$185,000 and commensurate with experience, qualifications and educational background of the successful candidate.
The school District enrolls approximately 555 students and is comprised of an elementary school (grades PK-6) and a junior-senior high school (grades 7-12), as well as an Alternative High School located at the Oneida County Correctional Facility, a District Office and Transportation Center.
The District has approximately 114 faculty, staff and support personnel; and has a reputation for innovation and excellence, a commitment to personal attention, positive relationships and a
productive climate for learning. A strong child-centered focus at the elementary level establishes a sound educational foundation.
Full programs in athletics, music and other co-curricular areas add breadth to the strong academic program for Oriskany students. The community strongly supports the school and its activities. As the center of the community, the District enjoys substantial community attendance
at all of its events including musicals, interscholastic sports competitions, science fairs, graduation as well as other events.
The Oriskany Central School District, including portions of Whitestown, Floyd and Marcy, is located in Central New York, eight miles southeast of Rome and just over seven miles northwest of Utica. The District’s current population is approximately 1,325 and its residents represent a wide range of educational and socioeconomic levels.
The successful candidate will demonstrate honesty, integrity, trustworthiness and strength of character; possess a strong focus on community relations and visibility; be highly skilled in leveraging communications to inform, engage others and celebrate the school district; demonstrate an ability to effectively lead, and collaborate with school District personnel and the
community; have a strong background in curriculum and instruction; be committed to academic excellence and opportunities for all students, in the Oriskany Central School District community; and possess New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA).
