Job PREREQUISITES

Education (degree/diploma/certifications) 
  • Four (4) year University Degree in Information Technology Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or related discipline
  • Completion of Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI) acquired
 
Experience 
  • Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities, including demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience in an IT setting, including application implementations, upgrades,
    improvements and replacement
  • Basic knowledge of the following principles and standards: Lean, Six-Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of the following principles and standards: ITIL Concepts, COBIT, SDLC, Technology Design and
    implementation

Conditions of Employment
  • Eligibility for and willingness to obtain full membership in Project Management Institute within six (6) months of hire date

The Opportunity

Under the general guidance and direction of the Manager of Digital Transformation & User Experience, the Supervisor of Project Planning & Delivery (herein referred to as the Supervisor) is responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities and delivery of services offered through the Project Planning & Delivery team. The Project Planning and Delivery team is a section of the Digital Transformation & User Experience branch, which is within the Information Technology department. The Project Planning and Delivery section is responsible for the successful planning and delivery of digital transformation and technology related projects, including new implementations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives for applications systems and technology infrastructure. The section is responsible for management of the full project lifecycle, from business case through project planning, execution, transition, and operations.

 

The Supervisor is responsible for building, developing and maintaining the teams, processes, procedures, standards, and systems required for the successful delivery of section, branch, and departmental objectives. This includes ensuring project and program plans, progress and benefits are consistently tracked, achieved, and aligned with the corporate, divisional and department priorities. The Supervisor provides leadership to the section staff consisting of project managers, coordinators, and analysts, and to other department staff assigned to projects and initiatives managed by the Project Planning and Delivery section. The Supervisor develops and maintains relationships with all sections and branches of the Information Technology department, and with project stakeholders in operational and administrative departments throughout the corporation. Additionally, The Supervisor also supports, maintains and promotes the use of best practices related to project planning and delivery within all areas of IT, and other business units within the City.
